"The best battle book I ever read. These stories, from the time the six men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima enlisted, their training, and the landing and subsequent struggle, fill me with awe."—Stephen Ambrose, American Historian |
I would rate this book as a 5 out of 5, this book had so many details about what was going on for Iwo Jima. This book had the stories for multiple characters and even in one book all those stories were able to be fit in. The story of an adventure to Iwo Jima is incredible to me. -Santiago, Goodread |
The book is written such that you are on the island with these men and in their later lives. It also says that the real heroes of Iwo Jima are the ones that lost their young lives there and not the “raisers”. -Jack, Amazon |
